Team Weak

Team Weak is the moniker of the young adults' group from Families in Christ Jesus Community that competes in Koinonia Cup, an annual fellowship event for Catholic young adult groups in the Bay Area and Central Valley. These groups participate in a series of competitive games, eventually leading to the crowning of a team as the winner of the Koinonia Cup. Teams registered for the competition are assigned a color and are required to have a sponsoring Catholic organization, team name, and uniform. I was approached by the organization to design a custom sports jersey that used their assigned team color, maroon. Their team name was inspired by the Bible verse "God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong." (1 Corinthians 1:27).

The challenge of this project was conceptualizing a logo for the team that accurately embodied their tagline. My solution involved sketching out an ambigram of the monicker that reads "WEAK" when right-side up and "STRONG" when upside down. After a couple of iterations, I created a digital mockup of the logo as a vector in Illustrator and created a mockup of the jersey before print.
